Cinco de mayo

Happy Cinco de mayo! Here are some interesting facts....
  • Cinco de mayo is celebrated because 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862.
  • It is not an independence celebration.
  • In fact the French actually won a much larger battle days later.
  • Today people of Mexican heritage celebrate this day with fiestas which include food, dancing, and lots of friends and family.
  • The Joneses love any excuse for a party... I mean Fiesta!!!!!
This is our feast complete with horchata (rice milk)
