Visit to the "Sarm"

Mav and I went on a really fun play date a couple weeks ago. We visited Strawberries on 903, a really cute farm with animals, ice cream and most importantly rows and rows of strawberries!!!

 Jake loved the pigs.

Mav loved the Sheep (I think it was like a real life 'Shaun the Sheep' episode for him).

Then we got to pick'n!

Maverik caught on right away!

And then he started having fun wearing his mini basket as a hat.
Luckily I had an adult size basket to collect the berries in.

Such a clown!

We had a perfect day in the berry patch!
Thanks Bells for going with us!

The next morning Mav and I made strawberry jam. We have almost gone through all of it too! I guess thats what happens when a family eats 2.5 pb&j's a day + 4 or more slices of toast a week.
Could be worse I suppose- I could have made strawberry pies...

Mav's Big Boy Room

We recently moved Mav into a big boy (twin) bed. The room he was currently in had a funny set up (short walls and poor window/closet/door placement). It would have looked weird and been cramped no matter where we put his bed, dresser and book shelf so we actually switched Mav's room and our office/craft room.

Mav was a super helper with the move!

So strong!

The first night in the new room we let Mav sleep in his crib so he would be comfortable with the new space before we added the bed.

Since we had to take the side of the crib off, to get it through the bedroom doors, we left it that way and let Mav get used to the openness (and possibility of falling out... which he did).

Did I mention that we got an unfinished bed and that Josh finished it!?!?! Well he did and he did an AMAZING JOB!

Mav was super excited about his new mattress.

Loving this cute handy man of mine!

So why a blue bed?
Because this is a nautical room!!!

And... do you think Maverik likes his new room?!

Yup!

He really...

REALLY LOVES IT!!!

He even likes sleeping in it. We have only had 1 or 2 nights where he wouldn't stay in bed... but it was on busy and fun nights when he thought he was missing out.

Mav loves his new "Slags"

Our spin on a family photo for Maverik's sailboat room. Grey-Daddy, Red-Mama, Yellow- Mav

Josh painted these!!! Awesome right?!!
He is so artistic!

And that's it!
(well so far- I am currently working on some hand-painted drawer pulls and we are thinking about one more art piece made from a pallet for the other wall)

Easter 2013

We celebrated Easter this year and then we celebrated Easter this year AND THEN we celebrated Easter this year! Thats right we had a week and a half full of fun Easter activities!

First we went to an egg hunt sponsored by our ward's cub scout troop.

Mav was a bit O.C.D. with his egg picking- he refused to allow any grass or dirt to enter his basket!

Then later in the week we attended a fun Easter brunch with several of the young families from church.

Mav had a great time with his buddies.

He also got to see the Easter Bunny... and he was NOT a fan! Not one bit!

Then we had our home Easter celebration. It was complete with a summer ready Easter basket, eggs and gummy worms (Jones tradition) hidden all around our apartment.

We are pretty sure Mav thought (well knew, actually) that we would take the worms out of his basket, and eat them ourselves, if he didn't eat each and every one as he found them!

It turned into a very slow hunt... there was lots of chewing!

Eventually Mav got to his basket. It had pool floaties, Annie's brand fruit snacks and crackers (because they are bunny shape), bubbles and polo's.

Then Josh found and opened his "basket" (I tied that bow tie by the way!)
There was also a brief recess for chewing at this point... like father like son!

And of course we celebrated the true purpose of Easter Sunday at church. You will notice Josh's new bow tie made the Easter outfit cut!

THE VERY BEST PART...

of the whole day is BATH TIME!

This kid loves to take a bath!
(and his daddy loves to make crazy sculptures with his sudsy hair)

We have really fun tub tints and bath crayons that Mav absolutely adores!

He also really likes practicing his letters and colors as he gets squeaky clean!

Being naked isn't so bad either.

But the very best part of bath time is getting to share it with a buddy!

(Someday when Mav has siblings I bet he will ask to take team baths ALL. THE. TIME!)

Swimming Lessons

With summer quickly approaching and the southern temperatures rising we decided it would be a good idea to enroll our little Maver in some swimming lessons. He was fairly comfortable in the water last year (he is after all the son of Josh and Kallie Jones), but sometimes kids need to see others their same size doing things before they can decide if it is something they want to enjoy.

Mav loves the water!

He is really good at kicking to propel himself to where he wants to go.

He is especially good at getting himself right in the middle of the "ball pit."
He even likes to swim under the water for about 3 feet!

He also really enjoys jumping in and going under the water. Not to brag... (it's my blog so it's expected right?) but Mav was the only kiddo who would actually jump into the pool on his own, the other parents had to use the "lift-and-dip" method.

We had so much fun at swimming lessons, we decided to do a second session this May while we wait for our neighborhood pool to open up.

OUR GOAL FOR MAY SESSION: GET HIM COMFORTABLE FLOATING ON HIS BACK!
