Super Maverik

We have discovered that our little Mavs man likes to fly and hang around in crazy ways. He just laughs and laughs when he flies or when he is hung up. It is great fun learning new things about our sweet little boy.

Our little Mavs Man, or should I say our little upside down Mavs Man

Super-Mav

He loves his Mama so much, and he loves flying around.

Maverik is...

ROLLING OVER!!!
(and Mama is NOT a video maker...that's your warning...just pay attention to the cute kid)

Josh was VERY impressed with Maver's new skill!!!

(Does anyone know how to rotate a quicktime video? I've tried and tried and can't figure it out!)

We are working on rolling to the left...

A Perfect Weekend

We spent our weekend relaxing, painting pottery, watching football and enjoying some good ole fashioned family time. We woke up on Saturday and enjoyed our morning relaxing, then we got ready and went to Walls of Clay to paint some pottery. It was a fun new experience for both of us.

Josh painted a candy dish for our family room.

And I did a piggy bank for Maverik to match his room. The pottery paint is really dull and chalky at first, but after it is fired and glazed it will brighten up quite a bit. We can't wait to pick up our finished pieces in about a week.

Then we got some lunch and walked around a park at a small lake. It is finally starting to cool off enough so we can actually enjoy the summer! (I never thought I'd think 95 degrees was "refreshingly cool.") Then that night we enjoyed some BYU Football. (Minus the fact that they totally lost their mojo the second half. bummer! but next weekend they will dom!) Which by the way I actually completely understand and enjoy!

Sunday was also wonderful! We are really being welcomed into our new ward. One gentleman in our Sunday school class mentioned a talk by President Ashton from the 1987 General Conference. It sounded like something I needed to read. I've be struggling with my own self worth and value as a mama, wife, sister, sister- in- law, daughter, and frankly just as a person lately. I am constantly impressed with my amazing husband's talents and understanding of so many different things. I feel like I'm always a bah-gillion steps behind- always learning the rules to a new sport or a new area of Dallas.  This talk really helped me. I hope it will be a good reminder for someone else too.

Joshua Jones, Edward Cullen & Peter Pan...

What do they all have in common? They will be young at heart FOREVER!
This is especially nice for me, since I just happen to be married to the studliest of the three. A couple weeks ago I got a leetle bit overwhelmed with mamahood and wifehood and life. So Josh offered to plan a date night and Collins and Ashley offered to watch Maverik.
Last friday Josh and I went out to dinner and then raced go-karts!!!

It was a blast! And exactly what I needed to unwind and rejuvenate. It's nice to "act our age" every once in a while.

But it's even better to return to responsibility... especially when he is this cute!
I sure do miss this little guy when we are apart.
Thanks Josh, Ashley and Collins for a great night!

This is where we live!

Our Idaho and New York family members have been requesting pictures of our new place and so without further ado...

Our kitchen and breakfast.

The family room.
We are going to add to our wall collage as we get Maverik's pictures printed. We will also get family pics taken and printed when we go to Idaho for Christmas. It will be fun to have an ever changing wall.

We used literature organizers in the corners of our room to create night stands in our bedroom! They are awesome! Thanks for the idea Pinterest!

And of course the room everyone is most interested in. Check out Maverik's room!

His pin board now has pictures of his cousins, mama and daddy.
And we look forward to adding more.

I adore these jungle decals for his room. They match the mama bunny I made and his name letters perfectly!

We have definitely come a long way from the day our apartment look like this... and I vacuumed our mattress in the family room (which is another story for another day).

Seriously Funny Stuff Right Here

Is this too cute or what?! Maverik loves to "dance" and white boy rap with daddy! He was giggling and smiling while I was frantically trying to find the camera and get it switched to video... sooo I missed it! But he is still pretty cute... and Josh's songs definitely got better with time! haha

Sweet Sweet Sofia!

Dear Sofia Esther Jones,

You arrived today in all your early bird glory at 1:43 AM! You are absolutely beautiful inside and out. You have your Mama's beautiful dark hair and your daddy's nose. It is the same nose you will recognize walking around on your uncle's and cousins faces. You are absolutely perfect with ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes. You are so small and new, but you have already changed lives for the better. You will not remember today but your mama and daddy will and so will your grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Today is the day we were all blessed with a new family member, our sweet sweet Sofia! You have come here to love and be loved, to bring happiness and hope and to make two people who love one another very much, into a family of three. You have already made a mother, a father, uncles and two new grandparents.  With out you they could not have these titles.
You are going to be your mama's best friend and your daddy's pride and joy. You have already brought so much happiness to your Jones side of the family. Your cousins Sydney and Emerson are so excited to finally have another girl to play with. You also have 4 boy cousins and even though they are older than you, they will look up to you and fallow your example.
This life is very difficult,it is a test- but you do not have to go it alone. You have two of the best parents,  who will do anything for you. Turn to them for help and guidance. Remember that you are a beautiful daughter of our Heavenly Father, and that is more valuable than anything in this world. Dream big, live every day to its fullest and don't be afraid to be yourself. There is only one Sofia Esther Jones, and everyone is already so smitten with her.

Uncle Josh, Maverik and I are so happy you are here. Even though we are miles and miles away and we haven't met you yet in this life, we already love you so much!

"Promise me you'll always remember; you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

Love Aunt Kallie

ps - I would love it if you and your parents
 decide to call me Tia Kallie (-;

FC DALLAS

When our friends Riley & Allison invited us to an FC Dallas game I was really excited....I've never been to a hockey game before! Then I found out that FC Dallas plays soccer not hockey...but I'd never been to a soccer game either...so I was still happy! Maverik and I enjoyed our first soccer game...first professional soccer game...AND first FC Dallas game together ALL IN ONE NIGHT! Josh was a great teacher! We spent the night before looking at drawings of soccer fields on line. I learned all about off sides, stoppage time & the no hands rule.
I was prepared for everything except the outdoor field, in Texas,  IN AUGUST!!!! It was 105 degrees, and this new mama cant fit in her pre pregnancy shorts yet! So I sat sweaty in my jeans and Josh held sweaty Maverik! haha
WE HAD A BLAST AND A HALF!

Soccer is a really fun sport to watch!

Maver actually watched the field the entire time!
Maybe he wants to plat soccer...or mow lawns. Hmmm, either way his parents are happy!

Is it possible for a 5'4", 21 year old wife and mama to learn to play soccer or basketball?
Sports look like A LOT of fun to play!
