Sew, the man can so...

or something like that (:

Yesterday Josh was getting dressed for work when the button on his pants fell off. Now if this were to happen to me I would do one of two things:

a) Wear the pants but also put on a belt and just synch it up real tight so the pants wouldn't fall off and no one would see the missing button.

-or-

b) Take the pants off, stick them in the back of my closet and try and forget about them until someday far down the road when I would begin to really miss the pants and how they fit. At which point I would dig for them, sew on the button and live my life as happy as can be.

These two options did not occur to my husband however, he instead immediately went looking for his sewing kit. When it comes to sewing on buttons my husband does not dilly dally.
My first thought was that he would just ask me to sew it on for him before he left. Or he might even attempt to do it himself and then sheepishly ask for my assistance.
But that is not what happened!
He took the pants and with the most incredible expertise, he Zip Bam Boom had that button secured on the pants. He knew exactly how to use all of the sewing tools, how to thread the needle in seconds, and most impressively how to tie a knot at the end of the string. I was very amazed to say the least! I must say he may be a better "housewife" than I am. Thank you Jerri for teaching your son such a useful skill.
Josh you are a wonderful husband with so many hidden talents, I am excited to see what other skills you have just waiting to shine out for me (and everyone) to see.

Let's go fly a kite...

I have never flown a kite before, so Josh made it his personal mission to change that. We had a blast! Fate always has the perfect kite flying breeze.

This is the kite Josh picked out. Can you tell I was very impressed with the design?

I was even more impressed with my husbands outfit... Jackson Hole T shirt, blue and white shorts and....cowboy boots?!?!

Yesterday I became a Texan...

Josh asked me "What time should I leave home to be able to make it to Plano by 8:30 tomorrow morning?"
I answered, "I think it will take about 45 minutes to get there with all the morning traffic. So I say leave at 7:45."

Yesterday, I also gave two customers and one fellow associate directions to various places in the metroplex.

Thats right, people are asking me (a newbie) about traffic situations!!!!

So I've been thinking...

Josh and I decided that the landscaping that came with our house was much too plain and boring (also the guys who planted everything did a horrible job so all of the flowers were already dead and dying). We took a trip to the green house and found orange marigolds and purple somethings :) We planted them last night when the sun was setting and things were starting to cool off. I think our placing and planting skills are pretty good, but I'm a bit bias.

I have decided that I do not read enough anymore. However with working 45 min away and doing all that comes with being a wife and homemaker (and school in a month and a day)... I simply can't find the time ( I suppose could give up blogging and Facebook stalking people, but thats crazy talk!!!) So! In an attempt to have literature back in my life I have taken up audio books that I can listen to when I am cleaning or driving to work. Right now I'm listening to Sarah Palin's autobiography Going Rouge. I am really enjoying it so far. She is a very down to earth lady with good morals and a positive attitude.

A few weeks ago my sisters in law Karim and Ashley asked me if I liked gold jewelry, and I said no. However after thinking about it I have decided that I have no real reason not to. My mom and sister Hattie both love yellow gold jewelry, so it's not a family thing to dislike it.
I have also decided that I need to make an effort to accessorize! Thats what being a girl is all about right!? My other sister in law Linds wears pearls all the time... pearl earrings, pearl necklaces, pearl bracelets. And I love that! She is so classy. So with my amazing discount at AE I bought some gold earrings and necklaces. I also dug through my old things a found some cute little hair bows that I have had for ages.

Yay for sisters, flowers, and good books!!!!

Fruit fruit the wonderful fruit, the more you eat....

The happier you are!

I went a little crazy in the fruit section at Kroger yesterday! They were having an amazing sale on the most plump, colorful and yummy fruit I have ever seen (and tasted). And since I crave fruit like most people crave chocolate or Dr. Pepper, I couldn't help myself.

P is for place mats and pillows!

We finally found some place mats and pillows that we both liked and wanted to give a happy new home to. The best part is that we had gift cards from our wedding so our new decor was... FREE!!! Check out the newest members of our "stuff family"

It is very hard to find place mats that go with; a red wall, back table, and cream dishes... but we finally decided on two different but very similar sage patterns.

One Wicked night!

Josh's mom and dad gave me tickets to Wicked for my birthday back in January! After months and months of waiting the day was finally here! We had a wonderful time. The music and story line were so cute. The characters had lots of cute little sayings and ways of speaking that were absolutely adorable. I loved every second of the performance. Thanks again Jerri and Bruce!

Day 8, 9 and 10

The last three days were much more relaxed than the rest of the visit, but we still had a lot of fun. Josh had Monday off and the four of us went to the Six Floor Museum. It is a museum in the book distribution building that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK from. The museum was fascinating. After the museum we went to the Galleria mall in Dallas. My mom and Gramie Del were amazed at its size. The mall has a normal food court but also several large restaurants(we had Corner Bakery), a skating rink and of course every store you could ever think of!

Tuesday, we relaxed most of the day and had lunch at La Madeleine. My mom and Gramie Del loved the food. We had croissants, crepes, bread, and quiche. The restaurant is so charming, I love the atmosphere. Here are some pictures:

Wednesday we got everyones things packed, ate lunch and went to the airport :(

It was wonderful having some of my family in town. I loved showing them our home and all of the things there are to see and do in Dallas. Josh and I are so lucky to have such a wonderful life. We have the best family here in Texas and also in Idaho, Virginia, Utah and Nebraska. We cherish every minute we get to spend with them.
