The life of a curious boy...

Our little explorer has become quite the trouble maker! Like I said in the last post, Maverik is into EVERYTHING! He is the fastest little crawler. When he makes a mess he never sticks around to watch Mama or Daddy clean it up, he just crawls off to get into something else! This circus makes for three very tired Joneses. I'm not always in the mind set to snap a picture when I catch Mav, "with his hands in the cookie jar," but I do have a few pictures to share with you all.

Here he is getting into our knob collection.

He has been getting some bad Texas allergies so we got him a humidifier for his room. He loves standing against in a burying his face in the steam as it comes out.

On this day I couldn't even catch up with Maverik long enough to put clothes on him... but he sure caught up with the TP roll!

No obstacle can stand in Maverik's way!

Sometimes he just goes and goes until he literally cannot hold his head up any longer! He slept like this for 10 minutes before I finally decided it was better to roll him over and ensure he could breath, even if it woke him up!
(sorry this pic is out of focus... it's a phone shot)

Nine Months

It's official- he has been OUT longer than he was IN! He is just so big already! Maverik is such a joy to us. He is learning so much. He is into
  EVERYTHING! ALL. THE. TIME!!!!
He is already our big-little boy! He is so curious. He loves to play with things that are not toys. He wants to hold and taste everything he can get to. He loves new places and faces. He reminds us to love life. The tiniest things bring him so much joy! He is so happy and wonderful. He absolutely melts my heart with just one look at those big blue eyes!

Firsts:

  • Saying Mama and knowing what the sound means! Now he says it all the time in the sweetest little voice. He will say it and then crawl to me or if I'm already holding him he snuggles into my neck. It is so wonderful!
  • Silly boy war wound (you know the kind- when a boy gets hurt doing something a bit ridiculous and dumb) He woke up really early one morning and absolutely would not go down for a nap, so I ended up setting him down in the bathroom with a bunch of toys while I took a shower. After about a minute the shower curtain begins to flap. When I peak out, Mav is standing up against the tub just as happy as can be. I decide everything is fine (dumb mama moment) and start shampooing. Then out of no where Maverik falls head first over the side of the tub right into my shower! He just sat up, pouted a little and then was so happy to be sprayed with the water. He has one gnarly bruise on his forehead though!

See his sweet happy-go-lucky personality? And his cute Sperry's?
And the bruise on his noggin? It is over a week old in this picture.
And the cute sail boats on his shorts? This outfit reminds me of his Uncle Chris!

P.S. The bandaid on his arm is from where he got blood drawn today to test for anemia. His doctor is really concerned that he is at such a high percent in height and so low in weight. They don't seem to care when I tell them his daddy is tall and skinny... perhaps because I'm so the opposite of that.
Anyway that was the worst experience of my life! Two nurses and I had to hold him down, while one nurse poked him FIVE times over a two hour period, to get enough blood. Poor guy has baby veins...even for a baby, so it took lots of extra poking. Of course my sweet boy isn't still dwelling on the agony from this morning. He is just as happy as can be. In fact he didn't cry a third as much as I thought he might.
He is so brave!

We love you Maverik Hawthorn!
